In September of 1992, NewDance began offering dance classes to the residents of Rye, Harrison, Purchase, Rye Brook, Mamaroneck, Port Chester, Greenwich and the surrounding areas. NewDance director and founder, Heidi Blair Sontag, completed extensive data collection and census tract evaluation of many neighborhoods. The data indicated that the area would benefit from a cultural and educational dance center.

The goal was to create a safe and friendly environment for children and parents. With a meager enrollment of 92 studentswhen the doors opened on September 30, 1992, NewDance was launched! The attentive care and creative instruction of the experienced and professional staff at NewDance was a valuable asset as word-of-mouth-advertising took over. Today, NewDance is still enjoying being part of your community and has built four, brand-new, state-of-the-art studios, centrally located, in Rye Brook.
